Please contact me directly via email initially with your ideas and then we can go from there. We can have a chat, and if you are local (Felixstowe /Ipswich, Suffolk UK) or you are ever in Lanzarote (Where I try to dive at least twice a year), we can meet up to chat about it in person. mandychristmas@yahoo.co.uk
I studied BA Hons in Fine Art Painting and I completed my MA in Sculpture at the RCA but I have always used photography in my work and over recent years drawing, printing, and now painting have been my preferred medium. Photography for me though is the most exciting, because it takes me under the sea, into a whole new and exciting world, one that I wish I had started to explore earlier in life and now I just want to make the most of it whenever I can. I now use these photographs as a resource to paint from and to look at every so often, just because.

Fish Paintings
Either Send me a photo of the fish or fishes you wish me to Paint, or if it is one I can photograph I will use my photographs or a combination of yours and mine, depending on what you want.
Below is an example:
I don't copy from images from books or the Internet, so far I have only used my own photography. The customer sent me an image from the Internet of the style they liked, a simple mackerel with a white background.
A photo of his wife holding a beautiful mackerel they had caught fishing (they did eat it and have a great respect for the sea and clean water and for the sustainable fishing). The photo unfortunately was too unclear for me to use, but I could see what type of mackerel it was. So I went to my local fishmonger and bought a couple of mackerel and took lots of photographs. Unfortunately the dorsal fin was damaged, so later on in the process, I bought another mackerel and took more photographs of another mackerel's undamaged dorsal fin. I then paint from then sketch out from then photographs the composition. At this stage you can agree it, or I can go ahead and paint and you can wit to see the finished result, it is up to you how you want to work it.
Turn Your Diving Photography and Experiences into Your Own Underwater Original Photographic and Painting Memories
The idea is that the background of your picture is one of your wide angle photographs you have taken whilst diving or snorkeling. Then the underwater scene will be created by you selecting your favourite photographs you have taken, which don't necessarily have to be from the same dive or even from the same location or even the same country.
I will then paint those images onto the photo canvas to create the underwater scene. Or you can send me your images and I can select the most appropriate ones, or I can use some images from my photographs to add to your background. again, it is all up for negotiation, depending what you want. The size and shape canvas or board is up to you and if you wish the background to be in black and white but the images painted on top to be in colour, again, that is your preference. You may wish a square rather that rectangular format, or even circular, or a diptych or triptych.
I can create a collage first before I do the painting so that we negotiate the composition until it is right for you, or I create it and it is a surprise for you on completion, however you prefer.
We can also discuss if you want it just in acrylic paint, or if you wish it to be in mixed media like the example, which has 3D elements where there are parts that are textured and more sculptural and are raised from the surface.
I can also change the scale of work and rather than working on wide angle images, the canvas could be a large scale image of a group of macro photographs. I am flexible and open to ideas.
Ipswich Scuba is where it all started for me and my Husband with Diving. They got us through our Open Water and started us on our journey for the love and passion for Diving. We often go back to buy bits of kit, have our Reg's serviced, see friendly faces and be offered coffee's and have a chat. Thank you.
