Clown Fish, Acrylic on canvas 30.5 X 40.5 cm, 2022. Commission: Sold
During the Lockdown when I wasn't doing any Gyotaku, I started to "play", and just enjoy painting on other surfaces for the pure enjoyment and fun of it for me on old clothes. It actually began, just with ironing on embroidered fish that I had bought onto old jeans and shorts, then I started drawing on old jeans and T shirts, then I had a go at embroidering fish. I finally had a go at painting fish onto an on Denim jacket, then another one, and then onto a faux leather jacket and then even onto a pair of leather boots and a towel!
I really enjoyed this. So when I was then asked if I would do a commission of a painting of a Mackerel, I said I would, though it was taking me out of my comfort zone but very exciting. So my first Acrylic painting of a fish was the mackerel 45cm X 106cm. I bought mackerel and took photos from which I worked. I loved it. I worked on Canvas board which was beautiful to work on.
The spotted grouper was from photos I took from a little spotted grouper I had bought at Billingsgate Fish Market and the Anemone was from a photo I had taken scuba diving in Lanzarote.
